Mohaven is one of two church camp and retreat centers for the Seventh-day Adventist Church presence in Ohio. It is owned and operated by the Ohio Conference of Seventh-day Adventist churches. Mohaven occupies 700 acres of lush forest in the Danville area, bordering 2 ¼ miles of the scenic Mohican River.
Mohaven has buildings and facilities that provide for guest lodging, meeting a wide variety of needs and tastes ranging from self-contained cottages with fireplaces bathtubs, linens and stocked kitchenettes to bunk cabins, or remote primitive camping spots with open fire pits and a nearby spring. A fully operational stable includes barns, pastures, tack, and miles of forest trails. A large dining room building houses a commercial kitchen, and a Welcome Center for guest services. A modern meeting and conference room seats up to 300 visitors in comfortable seating.
The philosophy of Mohaven’s existence is based on the Church’s valuing the belief that Nature is God’s ‘second book,’ after the Bible. Built on this foundation is the purpose to bring people back to the appreciation of nature. This includes learning how to be a good citizen of Planet Earth at this user-friendly camp and retreat center, while learning more about God, nature’s Creator.
